A Trilobite Family Portrait
2016
Steel, Western Red Cedar
Carbon + Iron + Wood x Heat x Pressure. Just like those found in the natural world, these trilobites are fossilized in time. But for these, it is the force of their making that defines their image. At 2300 degrees, they thrived and glowed yellow, electrified and malleable. After birth, they cooled, solidified–became stable and permanent records of their formation. Father was a simple man; mother was a darling; their children share a little of each.
